Mail-Order Annie - MUSICAL ADDENDUM
The addition of the musical score is optional. Should
the director choose to incorporate the music into the production,
the following are suggestions only. It is not the author's
intention to infringe upon the director's artistic integrity.
- All Aboard begins as lights come up (Stage left) on
Pullman car at Union Station, Toronto. Annie stands, head
down, slowly raising her head skyward - indecision.
Thomas Rodger (Porter) enters, places portable steps at door
of car, and calls out "Board!" Annie makes her decision,
ascends the steps, looks back once showing a big smile. Lights
and music fade. Lights up (Stage right) CP Station 2735B. Sounds
of Train entering station.
- Come to me Love can be used to facilitate set change
between Act I Scenes I & II. And/or Act II Scenes I & II.
- Down on the Prairie start of Act II. As music
comes up, Annie enters, tired and worn out. She tidies
a few things. Enter John, he sadly walks to his chair and
picks up his newspaper. Exit Annie. Fade music.
- Tell me All About France can be used to facilitate
set change between Act II Scenes II & III.
- Clare Begins Act II Scene IV. John enters
with music. Looks at the pictures of his family on the sideboard.
Slumps in his chair, head in hands, then leans back and drifts
off to sleep. Fade music.
- Mail-Order Annie Curtain call.
